Abstract
The performance of elite sugarcane genotypes was assessed for cane yield and juice quality parameter in plant & ratoon crop during the years 2018-22. The experiments were conducted at 62 locations in the planting seasons of Suru, Preseason and adsali and 12 genotypes were planted in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) and replicated two times. Comparative performance of 12 sugarcane genotypes were verified along with five standards in three crop cycles over the years. Cane yield, sugar yield and seven others attributes like millable cane, cane heights, cane diameter, number of tillers/ha, single cane weight, Brix %, Pol % and Commercial Cane Sugar % (CCS) were studied in every crop cycle. The data recorded in all three crop cycles were analyzed independently and lastly the data were pooled to carry out a pooled analysis. Amongst the twelve genotypes tested, the genotype CoVSI 18121 recorded significantly higher cane yield (Cane yield-140.45 t/ha; CCS-20.05 t/ha) which was found significantly superior over the standards Co 86032 (Cane yield-116.38 t/ha; CCS-15.85 t/ha) for cane yield and sugar yield in a pooled analysis. With this available database, the CoVSI 18121 genotype has been accepted for the pre release in the Research Review Committee (RRC) meeting of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Maharashtra State and Joint AGRESCO Meeting of four Agricultural Universities (SAU’s) in Maharashtra for the commercial cultivation in the planting seasons in Suru, Preseason and Adsali in the State for all the agro climatic regions
