Kisan Gosthi

Royal Association for Science-led Socio-cultural Advancement (RASSA) organised one day Kisan Gosthi at Palirazapur Village of Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh on 26.03.2017under sponsorship of National Horticulture Board, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. Of India, Gurgaon. Dr. Anjani Kumar (RASSA Founder member) briefed the 188 participated farmers of five villages (about aim of the Gosthi and noble cause of RASSA to help the needy farmers by bridging the gap between technologies and farmers through science-led approach. The partners of the Kisan Gosthi were Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Aligarh and Chief Medical Officer, Aligarh. Aligarh centre of Tata Chemicals also briefed to the farmers about their activities in the district. Eighteen experts of panel participated in the Kisan Gosthi including team of medical doctor’s. The Kisan Gosthi was planned in such a manner that could address quarries of farmers on agriculture and medical aspects. This plan worked nicely to attract women farmers in Kisan Gosthi too.

The quarries about orchards establishment, vegetables to be grown, plant disease, insect-pest, type of seed, storage, government schemes, etc were addressed by the expert panels. Based on their eagerness to know the problems faced in horticultural and agricultural crops, expert panels focussed their discussion accordingly. Farmers were having keen interest to have demonstrations on improved agricultural technologies at their field. Farmers of nearby villages were also participated in the Gosthi. Participation of farmers was from all section of society. Vegetable seed kit were distributed free of cost to the participants. RASSA also encouraged the farmers to come forward for having demonstrations of new agricultural technologies at their field. 17 farmers came forward to share their land for demonstration of improved technologies.
